Author bio: Gernot Groemer is the director of the Austrian Space Forum. He is an alumnus of the Univ. of Innsbruck and the International Space University (Houston/Texas) and lectures at the International Space University and various Universities in Austria and Germany. Dr. Groemer serves in the Board of Mentors in the Space Generation Advisory Council. He was part of the Flight Crew for the 37th ESA Parabolic Flight Campaign and leads the programme management for the AustroMars and PolAres Mars analog research programs of the Austrian Space Forum. He teaches at various universities in the field of human-robotic Mars exploration and Astrobiology. Dr. Groemer led 14 Mars expedition simulations, including the Dhofar desert in Oman, the Northern Sahara, Utah, Israel and the Kauskasus and leads the development of the experimental spacesuit simulator Aouda.X. He was the scientific lead for the ADLER-1 and ADLER-2 Space Debris detection missions in Low Earth Orbit and will also refer to the challenges of building and operating low-cost cubesats. 812 7266 8008
