On September 7, the new Director of the Space Research Center of the Polish Academy of Sciences (CBK PAN) is Piotr Orleanski, Ph.D., in accordance with the results of the competition, held by the Polish Academy of Sciences, Division III.
Piotr Orleanski, Ph.D., occupied as deputy director for technology development. During his 40 years of work, he gained enormous experience in developing and implementing new instruments in space missions, mainly in the fields of optoelectronics, on-board power and on-board computers, and space technology. He has participated in more than a dozen spectacular international satellite projects including, Integral, MarsExpress, Herschel, SolarOrbiter (employment at FHNW in Switzerland, 2009-2017), ExoMars, BRITE. He is the creator of the Laboratory for Satellite Applications of FPGA Circuits at CBK PAN, which was established through cooperation with the Foundation for Polish Science. He is a lecturer in space technology at CBK PAN, Warsaw University of Technology, and the Military University of Technology. He is a member of the Council of the Polish Space Agency and the Space and Satellite Research Committee of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is also a reviewer of many projects in the EU Horizon 2020/Space program.
