Temat: Searching for the subparsec structure of the local interstellar medium surrounding the Sun in observations from the IBEX and IMAP missions
The PhD student will join a research team analyzing observations of atoms originating in the interstellar medium, measured using dedicated instruments on NASA’s IBEX and IMAP missions. The main goal will be to develop methods for comparing observations with predictions of models describing possible structures in the local interstellar medium at distance scales smaller than 1 parsec, resulting from the interaction of the two nearest interstellar clouds. We are seeking candidates with a Master’s degree in Physics, Astronomy, or a related discipline, a basic understanding of data analysis, high analytical skills, and good programming skills.
