The space robot test bed consists of a 3m x 2m granite table on which the space robot moves. The space robot consists of a platform and a manipulator with two degrees of freedom. The robot moves on air bearings which allows the simulation of microgravity conditions on the plane. The maneuvering engines have been placed in pairs on the corners of the platform so that their exhaust nozzles point perpendicular to each other. This location allows full control over the position and orientation of the base. The test bed also includes an operator’s station from which commands are sent to the robot and an external vision system, which consists of three cameras and which helps determine the current position and orientation of the space robot using markers. The system makes it possible to test Space Robot components as they perform orbital maneuvers.
