Research Fields::

The Solar Physics Department (SPD) is one of the few institutions in the world dealing with the construction of space instruments and conducting x-ray observations of the Sun.

The SPD also carry out theoretical works related to the interpretation of x-ray spectra of the Sun and stars obtained as part of own and foreign space experiments (e.g. Solar Maximum Mission, Yohkoh, GOES, Exosat, ROSAT, ASCA, SoHO, CORONAS-F, CORONAS-PHOTON, TRACE, HINODE, SDO).

Research issues concern:

• • diagnostics of energy release processes and physical conditions in the plasma of solar flares,
  • hydrodynamic modeling of the flare phenomenon,
  • determining the chemical composition of plasma in solar corona structures.
